Senior Speech Language Therapist at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Te Toka Tumai Auckland, AucklandAn exciting opportunity to join our Speech-Language Therapy team in critical careTe whiwhinga mahi| The Opportunity We are looking for an experienced New Zealand registered Speech and Language Therapist to join our dedicated, supportive and friendly Adult Speech-Language Therapy team based at Auckland City Hospital. This opportunity is a Permanent, full-time, Senior (40 hours/week) position.
Proactively work on a complex critical care caseload delivering high-quality evidence-based clinical careAssess and manage both communication and swallowing disorders within acute critical care wards (general, neuro and cardiothoracic)Regular opportunities to use FEES, an VFSS as well as regular IDT collaboration around tracheostomy and/or ventilator managementCollaborate with team members and other work groups to achieve our service objectivesWork on developing positive working relationships with our clients/patients, whanau / familyCoaching and supervising colleaguesCommitted to professional development and continually striving for improved patient care and experienceThe Speech-Language Therapy (SLT) team works across a range of specialist areas including stroke, oncology, haematology, neurosurgery, head & neck, cancer and cardiovascular intensive care. This position will be within critical care settings (general ICU, neuro ICU and Cardiovascular ICU).
As the ideal person for this role, you will have the following skills and attributes:
Bachelor's qualification in Speech-Language Therapy or equivalentRegistered member of the New Zealand Speech-Language Therapists' Association (NZSTA) with current Annual Practicing Certificate6 years of proven experience working as a Speech-Language Therapist in a hospital settingFEES, VFSS and Tracheostomy competencyAn understanding of bicultural issues and commitment to the Treaty of WaitangiAbility to work collaboratively with a range of professional groups in a multidisciplinary settingEffective time management, prioritisation and organisation skillsDrive, energy and initiative with excellent communication and interpersonal skillsFor more information about this role please contact Anita Markey (Clinical Lead Speech-Language Therapy) at ****** or 021 962 328.
