Vacancy 2024 / 18a Poutoko Ture Matua Senior Solicitor Te Iho Corporate Service Permanent / Fulltime Location: Wellington Salary Range: $119,221 - $138,406 Korero mo te turanga - About the role Legal work for Manatu Taonga is hugely varied and interesting, including public and administrative law, privacy and official information, contract and commercial law, policy development and law reform, intellectual property law, competition law, resource management law, litigation, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi / Treaty of Waitangi related issues.
We work closely with our Crown entities and other funded agencies.
This is an opportunity to be part of our small and friendly Te Pae Tauhu Legal & Compliance team, focusing on supporting the development and implementation of government policy and legislation relevant to the arts, culture, and heritage sectors.
This opportunity includes supporting the legislative processes relating to media policy reforms.
Korero mou - About you You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a small and agile team.
Your creativity, sound judgment, and analytical skills will pave the way for you in this role.
Excellent communication skills, initiative, and the ability to work to deadlines are essential.
You need to have the confidence to lead legal support to internal clients daily.
You must hold, or be eligible to hold, a current legal practising certificate.
At least five years of post-admission experience as a lawyer is preferred; however, less PQE will be considered.
Experience in providing legal advice on Te Tiriti o Waitangi / Treaty of Waitangi and working with iwi, public law, and/or in drafting and reviewing contracts would be particularly useful for this role.
Understanding of the public sector and Crown entities would be helpful.
