In-house legal role working with the FMA's front line operational teams to manage legal issues in relation to the regulation of New Zealand's capital markets and financial services. Due to an internal promotion, we have a Senior Solicitor position available to join our Corporate Legal team, who are our in-house capital markets and financial services legal experts. While the role is permanent & full-time, we are also open to considering part-time and flexible working arrangements.
You will be responsible for the provision of pragmatic, high quality and effective legal advice to the FMA's frontline teams to ensure the FMA achieves its objectives. In addition to working with our frontline teams, you will engage with market participants and their advisers in relation to legal issues, allowing you to truly cement your place as one of New Zealand's top capital markets and financial services legal experts. With the opportunity to also contribute to policy development, law reform, and a range of key projects within the FMA, you really will be at the cutting edge of how New Zealand's financial markets legislation is developed, interpreted and applied.
You will enjoy thinking through interesting and novel legal issues and your drive, enthusiasm, self-motivation and confidence will contribute to your success in this role. Previous capital markets, financial services/regulatory legal experience would be highly desirable; however we are open to considering experienced lawyers from various backgrounds with ideally 8+ years PQE.
If successful, you will join a talented General Counsel function that works collaboratively with each other and the wider organisation. The Corporate Legal team is passionate about the work that the FMA does and likes to have fun and make a difference.
