Join us as a Safeguarding Advisor and help shape the future of safeguarding at Hato Hone St John.This is a part time position working 28 hours per week.As our Safeguarding Advisor, you'll be at the heart of fostering the safety and wellbeing of young people and vulnerable adults involved in our diverse activities. You will work collaboratively across the organisation, ensuring robust policies, practical systems, and proactive education are in place. Beyond strategy, this role is hands-on, actively engaging with communities and stakeholders to embed safeguarding best practices.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement practical safeguarding frameworks tailored to our unique context.Provide expert advice to staff, volunteers, and youth members, ensuring safeguarding awareness and compliance.Build strong relationships with external agencies to support a coordinated approach to safeguarding.Deliver impactful training programmes to empower our teams in recognising and responding to safeguarding concerns.Monitor, evaluate, and refine safeguarding policies and systems to ensure continual improvement.Champion equity and inclusion, integrating tikanga Maori principles into all safeguarding practices.QualificationsKo wai koe - About you:Solid experience in safeguarding roles, with a strong understanding of relevant legislation.Proven ability to design, implement, and monitor effective safeguarding policies and practices.Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence and educate.A commitment to cultural competence and applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.Resilience, flexibility, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.Hone St John, you'll be part of a team dedicated to building resilient communities through meaningful and impactful work.
