We Go Beyond for A Safer World Senior RF Engineer - Fixed Term Tait Communications is seeking an experienced Senior RF Systems Engineer with both technical and people management skills, to take on the role of Team Lead for the RAN System Design team.
This is a permanent fulltime position.
Based in our head office in Christchurch, this role is part of the core project team dedicated to delivering a secure digital land mobile radio communications network across New Zealand, as part of the Government's Public Safety Network (PSN).
With more than 450 sites across the country, you'll be contributing to the design of one of the largest P25 networks in the world.
Te Turanga - The Role In this role, you will report to the Engineering Manager for the Project and lead a small team of Systems Engineers.
Your focus will be on RF engineering, engaging across all stages of customer interaction and project development, from establishing clear specifications and viable contracts to implementation, deployment, acceptance, and support transition.
As a strong people manager, you will motivate and inspire the team to deliver exceptional outcomes for both the Project and customer.
Key responsibilities will include: Ensuring that commitments made to the customer are achievable within the agreed timeframe and cost.
Contributing to planning and scheduling at programme level, the establishment and maintenance of project standards and processes, and providing advice and recommendations to the project leadership team.
Actively engage and communicate with the programme/project team and stakeholders.
Provide day-to-day line management to the team, setting clear expectations and providing development and support.
Work with the Technical Lead to ensure a clear specification of the deliverable solution is captured and agreed.
O pukenga - About You You will have a background in RF engineering design and field experience in and around radio sites, combined with expertise in radio systems design and deployment.
Knowledge of Radio System operation within customer control centres is advantageous, as is an interest in coverage verification, GIS, and mapping systems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with a proactive approach to achieving exceptional project outcomes for both the project and the customer.
Previous experience successfully managing a technical team would be viewed favourably.
