Job Summary The Respiratory Laboratory Department, based in the QEH Medicine Directorate at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, provides a clinical service on three major hospital sites - QEH, Queen Mary's Hospital Sidcup CDC, and Eltham Community Hospital CDC. The service is also establishing a community-based service. You would have the opportunity to influence the expanding diagnostic service within South East London (SEL) for our patients who require respiratory diagnostics. This role would also provide you with the opportunity to rotate through each site. Main Duties of the Job An opportunity has arisen to join our Respiratory Physiology department. We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic respiratory physiologist to join our busy and evolving service. Our trust currently has two physiologists based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. We are also in the process of recruiting a team of ARTP trained HCAs that perform basic respiratory tests for our community-based diagnostic services and are working towards developing a band 4 junior physiologist post within our team. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who wants to excel professionally and is committed to providing a high-quality service. You must have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. This exciting new post will be based predominantly in our new Eltham community diagnostics hub, although there will also be the opportunity for regular cross-site working. The successful candidate will be required to work autonomously and be responsible for the day-to-day running of a lung function and sleep laboratory within the diagnostic hub. Making equalities mainstream. Job Responsibilities This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dedicated multidisciplinary team to develop services. Successful candidates will need to have the ability to work in and lead a multidisciplinary team and understand the principles of and take an active role in clinical governance. The postholder would need to have experience of teaching clinical skills to trainees of all levels and provide evidence of participation in audit and quality improvement projects. Person Specification Qualifications and Training Essential BSc Clinical Physiology / Science or equivalent Masters or equivalent experience. Eligible for entry onto RCCP register. Desirable Registered on the RCCP voluntary register. ARTP part 1 and part 2 assessments or equivalent. Experience Essential Significant recent experience as a qualified respiratory physiologist. Evidence of continued relevant postgraduate professional development. Experience of teaching. Knowledge & Skills Essential Knowledge of specialist respiratory investigations and therapeutic interventions. Ability to independently and accurately perform and report on full lung function tests; understanding the rationale behind the choice of test and the contraindications to each test. Ability to interpret lung function tests and to explain their meaning clearly to non-respiratory members of staff and to patients / carers. Knowledge of the working principles of the equipment in use together with its calibration, maintenance, cleaning, simple repairs, and quality control. Investigations and therapeutic interventions used to treat these conditions. #J-18808-Ljbffr
