We are looking for a Senior Planner who is keen to apply their experience and expertise in a dynamic and diverse environment.
About the role You will join a close-knit team of planners in a district that provides an opportunity to develop your planning skills in unique and challenging areas, including heritage, outstanding natural features and landscapes, new growth areas, coastal development, and various natural hazards.
As a Senior Planner, this role undertakes the assessment of more complex resource consent applications and related management of environmental planning. You will provide mentoring to colleagues and support to the Development Planning Team Leader. The role will also involve providing reports and recommendations to Council committees and offering advice to support Council's strategic, regulatory, and operational functions.
About you You will have a great work ethic and an ability to develop and maintain sound professional relationships. You will possess a good sense of humour and thrive while working in a small, supportive team. If you believe you have the right skill set and attitude, we want you to join our team.
To be successful in this role you will have: Significant knowledge and practical application within the planning industry (5+ years).
A planning degree or similar, and membership of a professional association, or working towards it.
An understanding of key Local Government legislation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build sound relationships and provide advice.
Strong literacy and report writing skills, with high attention to detail.
Great organisational and prioritising skills, along with a drive to get the job done.
