We are very proud to be partnered with an established and expanding exploration and production company, focused on Australia though with increasing asset portfolio internationally, to source a Senior Reservoir Engineer.
The purpose of Senior Petroleum Engineer is to provide petroleum and development engineering support, analyses and knowledge to operated and non-operated activities, particularly in Reservoir Engineering but also in wider asset management tasks.
Reporting to the Vice President Asset and Engineering, this is a newly created, full-time, permanent position based in Wellington. This represents an opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects and assets and develop within a supportive and professional team culture, in a very highly sought after lifestyle location.
Key responsibilities of the Senior Reservoir Engineer set out to achieve the expected results include though not limited to:
Maintenance of accurate and reliable reserves and resources data, aligned with industry standards, to support decision-making and reporting.
Optimised asset performance through the monitoring of reservoir performance, generation of accurate production forecasts, and identification of opportunities to enhance recovery factors and production rates.
Value creation identified and developed through new business opportunities and optimisation of asset development plans.
Successful management of joint venture relationships and projects to maximise returns and minimise risks.
Provide active contribution to the company through technical expertise and support to manage producing assets and new ventures processes.
Conduct in-depth reservoir studies to optimise production and inform development plans.
Contribute to the design, planning, and execution of field development projects.
Transfer of knowledge and skills to team members through mentoring and coaching to build a strong asset management capability.

About you
It is essential for success in this position to be a Senior Engineer within exploration and production with a majority of experience in Reservoir Engineering. Ideally, this will include a post-graduate qualification to Masters Level.
This experience will have provided the opportunity to develop skills including functional Project Management Experience and a broad understanding of Petroleum Engineering with specific expertise in Reservoir Engineering including:
Analytical reservoir modelling, e.g. MBal, Prosper
Well Test Analysis
Rate Transient and Decline Analysis
Numerical Reservoir Modelling
Production Forecasting
Reserves assessments
A confidence and ability to work across teams including both corporate and external partners and a self-driven approach to managing the area of responsibility will be an essential component to success and a key element of the selection for this position.
