The Opportunity We are looking for the role of Senior Regulatory and Compliance Specialist to join our Engineering team on a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) basis, in our busy Dunedin office.
The purpose of this role ensures sustainable management of Otago Regional Council's-owned River assets by overseeing compliance with bylaws and consent applications under relevant legislation.
You will provide advisory support to stakeholders and contribute to improving internal procedures, ensuring optimal performance of river management activities across Otago.
As a Senior Regulatory and Compliance Specialist, you will be responsible for: Managing and advising on the processing of Bylaw applications, including the preparation of reports and associated documentation for Approval.
Coordinating and aligning long-term asset management plans and river management strategies to ensure compliance with applicable consent conditions.
Responding to internal and external enquiries in relation to bylaws, compliance with Engineering held consents, advice, and proactively respond to issues.
Providing advice on best-practice in the function of bylaw processes and analysis to internal stakeholders.
About you A relevant tertiary qualification, or equivalent level of learning.
5 - 8 years of relevant work experience.
Experienced in provision of advisory services pertaining to the Resource Management Act and Local Government Act.
Experience in advocating/negotiating with internal and external stakeholders of an organisation.
Experience in interpretation and application of legislation.
