Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor - Civil Construction
Location: Auckland, New Zealand
Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a dynamic team based in Auckland, with a clear progression path to the role of Commercial Manager. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of high-profile projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The role offers a competitive salary of up to $200,000.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Management: Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and financial reports. Monitor project costs and progress, ensuring financial control and accountability.
Contract Administration: Draft, review, and manage contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers. Ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
Project Planning: Assist in the preparation of project plans and schedules. Provide input on cost estimates and project timelines.
Risk Management: Identify and manage risks associated with project costs, contracts, and timelines. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
Financial Reporting: Prepare regular financial reports, including cost-to-complete estimates, cash flow forecasts, and variance analysis.
Stakeholder Management: Liaise with clients, contractors, and project teams to ensure effective communication and collaboration. Resolve any disputes or issues that arise during the project lifecycle.
Procurement: Oversee the procurement process, including the selection and management of subcontractors and suppliers. Ensure value for money and adherence to project specifications.
Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to junior quantity surveyors and other team members.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in a Quantity Surveyor role within the civil construction industry.
Strong knowledge of construction contracts, cost control, and financial management.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in relevant software applications (e.g., MS Office, cost management software).
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
Proven leadership experience and ability to mentor junior team members.
Ambition and drive to progress into a Commercial Manager role.
