Senior Quantity Surveyor Job DescriptionThe Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for the estimation, measurement, pricing, supplier management and negotiations, and contract administration of residential construction projects.
These projects range from single houses to entire subdivisions.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the construction industry and a proven track record of success in measuring and pricing construction projects from bare land to completed product.
This candidate will also ideally be able to provide estimations for commercial building projects and be able to take ownership the QS process to improve how the QS department operates.
Analyze Project Plans: Review and interpret project plans and specifications to gain a thorough understanding of the project.
Cost Estimation: Determine what factors of production will influence the cost of a service or product.
This involves measuring and analyzing data related to labor, materials, equipment, and location.
Prepare Detailed Estimates: Create material estimates and cost estimates for the product or service.
Additionally, develop labor estimates for any project.
Vendor and Contractor Management: Develop and maintain relationships with company vendors and contractors.
Manage bids from vendors and contractors.
Cost Analysis: Use bid data to prepare a detailed cost analysis.
Present prepared estimates to management and other stakeholders.
Record Actual Costs: Compile and record actual costs during the project Run multiple projects concurrently: Able to keep track of up to 40 concurrent project costings in different estimation and build stages.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in construction management or a related field2+ years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Estimator for residential or commercial constructionStrong understanding of construction measuring, estimating and budgetingExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAble to present professionally to clients and suppliersAbility to work independently and as part of a teamProficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteExperience with CostX is a plus.Have the desire to grow a QS role and department as the company grows.
