You will provide accurate, efficient and timely goods and services purchasing for NZDF. You will be responsible for training purchasing staff and maintaining standard operating procedures. As a senior member of the Purchasing team, you will be responsible for the more complex purchasing tasks.
You will be required to:
Provide accurate and timely Purchasing and SRM special request advice to internal and external customers.
Oversee the running of purchasing reports.
Engage with Accounts Payable staff and NZDF logistics staff to ensure timely payment of vendor invoices.
Ensure a high level of stakeholder engagement with key vendors and/or NZDF staff across the NZDF's camps and bases.
Support the Purchasing team with training, development, and the sharing of best practices.
Work with Purchasing Team Leaders to develop and maintain a 'roadshow' that can be used to advise, educate and streamline purchasing across the wider NZDF organisation.
This role is based in Trentham, Upper Hutt. Once you have undergone training and are up to speed, there is the option of working from home up to two days a week.

You will be an enthusiastic team member with great communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships. You will have a strong service delivery focus and a commitment to providing excellent customer service to all levels of the organisation. You will be able to step up into this senior position with the ability to mentor and train purchasing staff and NZDF customers.
Ideally, you will also have:
Good knowledge and understanding of purchasing and procurement processes.
An understanding of Public Sector, including All of Government (AOG) purchasing/procurement requirements.
Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills, with the ability to seek out solutions.
Good technical ability, including experience with MS Excel and Outlook.
Experience with a major ERP package such as SAP or Oracle (advantageous but not essential).
While experience in purchasing and procurement is preferred, we are open to training and developing a suitable candidate with strong relationship management and communication skills with some business or finance administration experience and/or qualifications.

At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last five (5) years.
You must have a five (5) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
