Te tunga | The role:
Tatauranga Aotearoa Stats NZ is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager with proven capability and an excellent track record in managing projects that require enterprise-wide capabilities to deliver. This role will support the transition to a new Stats NZ-wide approach to engagement in a reasonably fluid environment. We are looking for a skilled Project Manager who can galvanize and inspire a diverse team to a common set of goals. We need someone who can demonstrate their ability to build and maintain a balanced delivery environment.
Responsibilities:
As the Senior Project Manager - Future Census Engagement, you'll be responsible for the successful coordination and delivery of project activities including:
* Ensure outcomes and deliverables are clear and understood.
* Facilitate project scheduling.
* Ensure all engagement activities are recorded and appropriately captured.
* Facilitate relevant hui to ensure the project is clear on progress towards deliverables and to raise issues for collective problem solving.
* Monthly status reporting and drafting governance level papers.
* Risk and issue management.
This role will report to the General Manager - Strategic Engagement, Maori Partnerships and Outcomes and will work closely with relevant Business Owners and Stats NZ's Enterprise Portfolio Office. A key stakeholder will be the General Manager - Statistical Delivery, Population and Housing, who is responsible for the delivery of the Future Census programme.

Working closely with teams across the organisation, you will be required to build positive and productive relationships. You will be highly organised, self-managing, able to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team. You will be familiar with techniques and frameworks of your discipline and be comfortable learning in a high-paced environment. The Senior Project Manager requires SFIA Competency Level 6 (initiate) indicating a high level of organisational impact and influence, and the critical nature of this role within the wider business.
You will:
* Have significant experience as a Project Manager managing complex, multi-vendor projects.
* Be a trusted advisor to a diverse stakeholder base.
* Have systems delivery lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile SCRUM experience.
* Have a relevant project management qualification e.g., PRINCE2, PMI, SCRUM.
* Have managed multiple suppliers simultaneously from engagement and day-to-day management to completion of the contract.
* Have led large project teams, managing significant project budgets and accuracy of financial forecasting.
* Understand the public sector governance lifecycle and can produce high-quality governance documents.
* Knowledge and experience, or desire to learn and build knowledge and experience of Te Tiriti, Tikanga, Te Reo and Te Ao Maori.
