Starting salary: $120,000 to $160,000 negotiable + superannuation Flexible by default, balance life and work commitments An environment where we can all be leaders, where your ideas and input are encouraged Contribute to meaningful work that makes a difference to all people in Aotearoa 3 extra annual leave days (taken during Christmas office closure) City based offices that cater to a variety of working styles and needs Te tunga | The role We currently have a 12 month fixed-term opportunity for a Senior Project Manager in the Security team at Stats NZ.
We are looking for a motivated and experienced person who can lead priority projects incorporating both business change and IT delivery.
Stats NZ has a Future Census program, an IT Security Roadmap and a Protective Security Requirements Working Group all undertaking major change.
These programs will give Stats NZ staff the technology, risk management and processes to continue to do their work safely.
The project teams are primarily based in Wellington.
You will work in the Enterprise Portfolio Office, with a great cohort of Project Managers, Business Analysts and Change Managers who are passionate about what they do and happy to support you.
You will be accountable for the management and delivery of medium to large projects within the organisation, as well as higher risk projects across Stats NZ.
In this role you will: Manage full project development from concept through to implementation and post-implementation review.
Ensure successful end-to-end delivery of projects, within the agreed time, cost and quality parameters.
Coach and lead your team and business subject matter experts in project management practices and disciplines.
Take a leadership role in managing stakeholder and project relationships.
Actively participate in the project management centre of excellence, convened by the Project Advisor, to ensure consistently high standards of project management practice across EPO.
Leading the project team on a daily basis, whilst also ensuring governance, delivery partners and stakeholders are actively managed will be key.
This is a high priority project delivering an output which benefits a wider range of stakeholders.

You will be familiar with techniques and frameworks of your discipline and be comfortable learning in a high paced environment.

Any experience leading data / analytical / statistical production teams.
Any experience in a similar role that included a large component of engagement with internal and external stakeholders / customers.
