DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL PRACTICE AND RURAL HEALTH DIVISION OF HEALTH SCIENCES The Department of General Practice and Rural Health is an academic unit within the Otago Medical School – Dunedin Campus. It was the first university department of general practice in New Zealand and is one of the oldest in the world.
Staff in this department come from a wide variety of disciplines and are involved in teaching and research in the fields of general practice and primary care. We teach undergraduate medical students and have an active postgraduate programme which offers diploma, master's, and PhD opportunities.
The role/Te mahi We are seeking to appointment Paper Conveners within the Rural Health post-graduate team. These positions provide the opportunity to work within a team that is committed to improving health outcomes for all through high quality research and teaching.
We have several positions available, and we are open to making these appointments at any level from Professional Practice Fellow (teaching only) to Senior Lecturer (teaching, research and programme development) level. Appointment will be dependent on academic achievement, skills, and experience.
You may be already teaching and researching in rural health and looking for an opportunity to share your knowledge and experience with great students wanting to upskill to provide the best outcomes in rural medical settings! 
There is flexibility to undertake the work from anywhere in NZ, combining it with rural clinical work.
These roles would best suit those who have completed the Diploma of Rural and Provincial Hospital Medicine (or equivalent) and are currently working (or have prior experience) in a senior medical position in rural New Zealand.

Roles are available part-time at 0.1 FTE.
Appointment will be made on the Senior Professional Practice Fellow or Senior Lecturer salary scale, dependent on academic achievement, skills, and experience. 
The salary scale for a Senior Professional Practice Fellow level 3 is ($98,640 to $107,300) or level 4 ($112,483 to $128,305). The salary scale for a Senior Lecturer - Medical & Dental is ($138,548 to $172,693).
