We are looking for an experienced Senior Procurement and Commercial Specialist to manage high-value, strategic commercial agreements within Defence Commercial Services.
You will be a senior member of the team that provides commercial services to Defence Estate and Infrastructure (DEI). DEI develop, maintain and manage land, property and infrastructure assets for all camps and bases in order to support NZDF military capabilities and all of government outcomes.
You will take the lead on significant and complex procurement projects that are strategically important to the NZDF. You will also provide mentoring support and leadership to your more junior team members through the Defence Leadership Development framework.
You will be:
Delivering strategic and commercial advice to your customers through the procurement lifecycle (plan, source, manage) within the portfolio stream.
Developing and actively managing strong and effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
Managing complex procurement activities, as well as providing mentorship, advice and support to colleagues.
Utilising analytical tools and applying performance and governance frameworks to ensure compliant, effective and efficient outcomes.
Contributing to the overall capability and effectiveness of the NZDF procurement and commercial function.
There is the choice to work from Defence House in the CBD, or from Trentham, plus flexible working options.

You will be experienced in the management and delivery of a variety of procurement and commercial activities at a senior level. You will be passionate and knowledgeable with your key focus on exceptional customer delivery.
You will also bring:
Technical proficiency and experience in all aspects of the end-to-end procurement lifecycle, especially tendering.
An ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, influence, and negotiate outcomes as a trusted advisor.
Demonstrable experience in critical and strategic thinking, and able to deal well under pressure.
Agility and flexibility to adapt to a broad range of procurement categories and take ownership of assigned projects.
Passion for innovation and excitement for challenges.
Knowledge of NZS3910:2013 and its execution.
A NZ Certificate in Infrastructure Procurement Procedures is desirable.
A MCIPS qualification or equivalent relevant experience is advantageous.
This role requires occasional domestic travel across NZDF's Camps and Bases to engage with key stakeholders and gain exposure to projects. You need to have a Class 1 Full Driver's Licence.
