We are seeking a Senior Principal or Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our high performing team. We are ideally seeking a highly qualified candidate with experience across all project sizes from low rise to high rise building projects. We are involved in a broad range of project types that include data centres, health, laboratories, industrial, education and infrastructure.
You will be involved with the strategic direction of all aspects of the Mechanical Team for the Buildings Group, providing support to Project Engineers to ensure the team is consistently focused on delivery of technical excellence and keeping on track with quality, schedule, and budget. You will represent the company externally to our clients and play an active role in building and managing relationships, whilst reinforcing cultural behaviours across the Mechanical Team and the New Zealand Buildings Group. You will enjoy a diverse position and will need to have the ability to multitask and share your time between project delivery, business development and section performance.
Day to day tasks would involve:
Management of current and future workloads within the Mechanical Section in order to achieve attainment of financial targets whilst keeping morale high.
Oversee and manage the design process, maintaining alignment with project guidelines.
Mentor and lead projects and development of the team through mentorship, professional development and technical excellence.
Key point of contact for all client relationships, being actively engaged, understanding client requirements and offering strategic design solutions.
Design, documentation and superintendence including project review, liaison with client and consultant team, liaison with authorities, reporting, contract administration and quality audits.
Assist and contribute to the discipline leadership teams in developing Stantec engineering systems.
Adhere to professional standards, ethics and Stantec quality procedures.

Qualifications
About you | E pa ana ki a koe
To be successful for this role you'll need:
Previous experience in a Consulting environment within the Building services industry.
Knowledge of the New Zealand Building Code and relevant Australian and New Zealand Standards.
Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, and ideally a minimum of 12 years of relevant professional experience in the engineering industry or consulting.
Willingness to establish and maintain strong client relationships to formulate repeat opportunities.
Ability to multitask between project involvement and section performance.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Working towards being a Chartered Professional Engineer (or equivalent) and/or Producer Statement Author would be favourable, but not essential.
