We are seeking experienced Policy Analysts and Senior Policy Analysts to join the Disability Policy team at the Ministry of Social Development (MSD). Mo te tima / About our team The Disability Policy team provides strategic policy advice to enable disabled people to live good lives. We are responsible for a broad range of policy issues impacting disabled people and their whanau, and provide advice to both the Minister for Disability Issues and the Minister for Social Development and Employment, collaborating closely with Whaikaha the Ministry of Disabled People. The team is part of the International, Disability, and Generational Group within MSD's Policy Branch, which takes a unique population-based lens to social development, employment and disability issues. The team is leading work on the Carers' Strategy and Mahi Aroha the Carers' Action Plan; employment for disabled people; and system-focussed advice on a wide range of supports that MSD provides to improve the lives of disabled people and their whanau. We also contribute to work across government to support consideration of disabled people and their whanau in policy advice. Nga pukenga me nga wheako / Skills and experience We're keen to hear from motivated Senior Policy Analysts and Policy Analysts with a track record in delivering excellent advice. You'll need great people skills as you'll be working with stakeholders across our organisation and externally. You'll need strong analytical and critical thinking ability, excellent judgement and sharp writing skills. We're keen on people who will fit our collegial, supportive culture, and have the action orientation to shape, lead and contribute to policy work that is a priority for Ministers and our Chief Executive. Experience in the sector is a bonus but not essential. If you're considering the Senior Policy Analyst role, we'll also expect you to demonstrate: political nous, strategic agility and experience in leading advice on complex policy challenges; skills in building relationships and leading engagement with stakeholders, both internally and externally to the Ministry; experience in enhancing the team's capability, including supporting junior staff with their projects and development; the ability to think broadly and into the future to ensure our policy advice is comprehensive and enduring.
