You will also lead and support the projects that will deliver the Strategies and Policies to Council, coaching and mentoring staff involved on these projects on the way.Key Responsibilities:Advise Council on proposed legislative changes that may impact on Council.Develop policy and position statements, submissions, and advice on matters of strategic importance to Council.Prepare and deliver Council Reports as per the schedule of Council meetings.Design guidelines for the implementation of new policies in line with legal and organisational requirements.You are likely to be an expert in the public policy environment, have knowledge of the Local Government Act, have highly developed skills of persuasion and influence, and excellent relationship and development skills particularly with Maori/iwi/hapu.A relevant tertiary qualification and substantial experience in strategy policy development and planning coupled with strong project management experience is essential.Far North District Council is a progressive and growing Council filled with like-minded people who love what they do and are committed to providing superior services to residents in their community.You will be given all the tools of the trade you need to hit the ground running including a laptop, mobile phone, and professional development plan to ensure your ongoing growth and success within the organisation.
