We advocate for accessible and sustainable high quality workforce and equitable healthcare to meet the health needs of New Zealand's population.About the roleThe Policy, Advocacy and Insights team is nimble and collaborative. Our work has impact across College programmes, general practice, rural hospital medicine and the general health system.We're looking for a person with a strong background in research and evaluation; practical frontline health experience would be an advantage. You'll be inventive, understand the clinical environment and be practiced in the art of policy and advocacy.As the Senior Policy Advisor, you will develop and deliver a range of high-quality policy advice for the benefit of the College and general practice and rural hospital medicine.You will also…Apply advanced analytical skills, sound reasoning and excellent judgement to inform policy responses.Apply expertise in the process of developing advice and papers that support and inform College, positions and policy and advocacy.Develop and deliver key research projects, annually and bi-annually.Work collaboratively across the College and externally to ensure member input, evidence and best practice information is obtained to inform the provision of high-quality policy advice.Ensure policy and advocacy outputs are reflective of and consider the Te Ao Maori worldview, compliant with Te Tiriti o Waitangi and contribute to improvement in Maori health outcomes.Skills & ExperienceQualification and relevant experience at senior level in health policy, research, evaluation and being a health professional would be an advantage.Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and oral communication skills for engagement on complex issues.Understanding of the importance of te reo, tikanga Maori, the College's obligations to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and demonstrated application in all aspects of policy advice and analyses to inform equity.High-level self-motivation and ability to work independently with strong problem-solving, evaluation and critical thinking skills.Exceptional time management, planning/organisational skills and attention to detail.Work from home up to 2 days a weekProfessional development opportunities and access to LinkedIn LearningWellbeing initiatives such as flu vaccines, fruit, stand up desks and an annual cash contribution for you to spend on activities or items that benefit your wellbeingGreat office environment - daily quiz, active social committee & book club, regular social events and a modern, light and bright office that overlooks the harbourOur commitment to equity and diversityOur College acknowledges Maori astangatawhenua, and our team reflects the diversity of Aotearoa New Zealand.
