He angitutanga | About the role
Our Hunting, Fishing and Economic Development Policy team has a unique role providing an interface between the Minister for Hunting and Fishing's office and DOC. We provide strategic oversight for the Minister's priorities and delivery of the work programme for term. The team also leads on a number of high priority, complex and interesting policy projects within the portfolio supporting Ministerial commitments. This includes work to introduce Herds of Special Interest to balance hunting and conservation objectives; considering improvements to address issues and help Fish and Game be more effective; and considering how to manage game animals as valued introduced species.
As an experienced Senior Policy Advisor, you'll play a critical role in shaping and implementing policy projects that will have an impact this term. You'll also provide great thought leadership, seeing the big picture across different workstreams in the team, across DOC and more widely within Government.
The Hunting, Fishing and Economic Development team is one of seven policy teams in the Directorate. The Directorate helps ensure DOC has the right frameworks and settings in place to deliver on our outcomes for conservation and hunting and fishing, to meet Government priorities and to be an honourable Treaty Partner.
