Senior Planner role based in Fairlie, South Canterbury Permanent, full-time position Mackenzie District Council – our community, our place, our future.

The successful candidate will play a key role in projects, advice and support other planning employees.
This role will provide growth opportunities and development tailored to suit the individual; under the supervision of a Manager renowned for being an excellent mentor. The Senior Planner will play a key role in the District Plan Review program, provide planning advice to public, consultants and other employees, and work closely alongside the Manager Planning to ensure Council's responsibilities under the RMA are met.
The core responsibilities of this Senior Planner role include: Resource consents processingResearching complex resource management issues, and their implementationPlanning advice to public, consultants and MDC employeesDistrict Plan ReviewProvide expert advice at hearingsDeveloping policies and practicesSuccessful candidates will have: A relevant tertiary qualification(s) in planning/resource management, or other relevant degree with demonstrable experienceDesirably 5 years worked experience in a planning role, or proven ability and expertiseMembership of the NZ Planning Institute or eligibility to apply for full membershipAn understanding and ability to work with communities to achieve outcomesExperience mentoring and developing less experienced team membersLocal Government experience is desirableKnowledge of and respect for the principles of the Treaty of WaitangiAt Team Mack we have some great benefits including Special Leave ('gifted' leave to attend dental/legal/specialist appointments etc), fuel card and discounts, local retail discounts, and weekly team fruit basket just to name a few.
