You'll be an essential contributor to the Planning Services team, managing resource consent applications, enhancing service quality, and providing valuable technical expertise. Your role will also involve mentoring junior planners, advising stakeholders, and engaging with diverse community members to help achieve Council's goals.
In this role your focus will be:
Processing, reviewing, and advising on resource consent applications to ensure compliance with the Resource Management Act.Leading service improvement initiatives, implementing best practices to enhance the quality and efficiency of planning services.Providing mentorship and technical guidance to other planners, fostering skill development and knowledge growth within the team.Offering customer-focused advisory services to stakeholders, ensuring that planning advice aligns with Council policies and regulatory standards.Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including in the consent process and complex planning matters.Supporting hearings and Environment Court appeals as needed, preparing and presenting evidence.We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented planner with a strong background in resource management and regulatory frameworks. You're committed to delivering high-quality service and adept at working independently while building strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
In addition, you will:
A degree in Planning, Resource Management, or a related field.Significant experience (5+ years) in a planning role, with experience in mentoring colleagues.Strong analytical skills, with the ability to make sound decisions on complex issues.Excellent customer service skills and a high degree of initiative.Proficiency in communicating effectively with diverse groups in various formats.High integrity and professionalism, especially in handling sensitive or confidential information.About us Palmerston North (or as we like to call it, Palmy) is a growing, innovative and exciting city.
