We are searching for an enthusiastic experienced individual to join our team for a 12 month fixed term period to cover parental leave.
About the Role: As a member of our team, you will build and maintain meaningful relationships with our community, contractors and Council staff.
You will play a key role in overseeing the operation, maintenance, improvement, and management of Council parks, reserves, sports fields, and walkways throughout the Whanganui District.
The role includes project management and overall responsibility of the Whanganui Cemeteries.
About You: To thrive in this position, you should have a minimum of 3 years prior experience in parks management, and familiarity with procurement and contract management is highly desirable.
A tertiary level qualification in landscape architecture or related field, such as arboriculture, horticulture, or practical experience in the horticultural industry, is a prerequisite.
Proficiency in office procedures and computer software, including accounting systems, spreadsheets, and databases, is expected.
Experience in a Local Government context and environment would be a significant advantage.
However, what matters most is your ability to communicate effectively and build strong interpersonal relationships.
