Role purpose This role is a hands on administrative role and responsible for the day to day work of the Corporate Actions staff including scheduling, holiday and sick cover, and training of new staff.
While not a people leader, this role provides critical support to the Operations Manager – Corporate Actions and the Chief Operations Officer.
The role sits within the Operations Team which specialises in data and transaction processing across the firm, with accountability for accurate and timely data input and transaction processing.
Key consumers of the team's internal services include, Advisory and Adviser Support, JBWere management and its clients.
Key responsibilities As the Senior Operations Analyst – Corporate Actions you will be accountable for supporting JBWere in: Scheduling day to day work for Corporate Actions staff within the Operations Processing team Training of Corporate Actions staff members.
Address key person risk and undertake succession planning Working with other Operations Specialists to ensure JBWere's processing function runs smoothly Ensure the timely and accurate processing of all corporate action advice received from 3rd party providers Ensure operational processes around IPOs are handled in a timely and accurate manner Analyse and resolve issues related to corporate actions & IPO processes Coordination and recording of any corporate action team operational events and associated action plans Working with the Client Services team to control any impact on client reporting Involvement with and support of JBWere management.
Participate in operational change initiatives and implement efficiency through delivery of Operations strategies; Involvement with third party relationships for services used within the Corporate Actions area Proactively manage risk; meet all policy and compliance requirements; perform controls; adhere to Process and Procedures pertinent to role; and escalate events, issues or breaches as they are identified (risk accountability forms part of all roles, as everyone is responsible for managing risk and compliance).
Health and Safety – Know and comply with the firm's health and safety procedures and directions to ensure duty of care is exercised both in relation to one's own health and safety and that of colleagues.
What you will bring to the role Knowledge Understanding of the economic environment in relation to local and global financial markets and products recommended by JBWere NZ.
Business and industry knowledge specific to Private Wealth Management.
Qualifications and experience Essential: At least 5 years relevant experience gained within a Wealth Management or Investment Banking environment.
Excellent knowledge of corporate action processing in a custodial environment Excellent understanding of local and international investment taxation particularly in a NZ context Excellent knowledge of IPO / new issue processing requirements Skills and behaviours Essential: Proactive team player, self-motivated with an ability to think critically, use initiative and independent judgment to deal with tasks that require immediate attention.
