Senior Medical Social Worker, Acute Allied Health at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Counties Manukau, AucklandFull Time, Permanent Remuneration as per PSA Allied Health MECA guidelines (between DA2 – DB3) Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Clinician Social Worker to provide social work intervention and support at Middlemore Hospital. In this position you will be responsible for providing Social Work intervention and support to patients and their whaanau in medical service areas. A commitment to working with other disciplines within a multidisciplinary team environment is important.
Your understanding of health and disability issues together with sound counselling and a robust understanding of frontline trauma intervention skills will enable you to work with patients and their families in a therapeutic and holistic way.
You will have a recognised Social Work Qualification and be registered with the Social Work board. A minimum of 5 years of social work experience is essential within an acute hospital setting. We are seeking a Social Worker who has drive and determination and the ability to work independently and collaboratively, in an ever-changing environment. This is a chance to fully utilise your excellent communication and organisational skills and really make a difference.
A commitment to working with other disciplines within a multidisciplinary team environment, excellent understanding of and commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti O Waitangi, and an understanding of Tikanga Maaori or a Pacific Island language would be an advantage.
