About the role Joining the team at Dunedin Hospital, you will provide a mixture of inpatient and outpatient services and interface with respiratory labs. Direct clinical service will normally be based on 10 sessions of nominally 4.0 hours duration between Monday to Friday. This role will include participation in the after-hours respiratory rosters for weeknights and weekends.
The department of Respiratory Medicine is actively involved in teaching and accredited for postgraduate training by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP). Affiliated with the Dunedin School of Medicine, we actively support 4th, 5th and final year students within the department, with Physicians providing Honorary Senior Lecturer roles within the University of Otago. We currently have five other respiratory physicians across the district. On either site, the respiratory service has certified Respiratory Physiologists providing a wide range of diagnostic tests including challenge testing. There are also Sleep Physiologists on both sites responsible for the diagnosis, fitting and ongoing care of patients in our community with CPAP and NIV units. There will be a requirement to undertake rural clinics.
About you You will need to be, or be eligible for, vocational registration as a respiratory physician by the New Zealand Medical Council, including having Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Physicians or an equivalent and accepted international qualification that enables specialist registration with the MCNZ, allowing you to start in this role in the required timeframe.
You will also need the following: Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growthExperience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settingsWorking for Health New Zealand Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellness'.
