The Department of Cardiology at Middlemore Hospital invites applications for a SMO Cardiology.
Middlemore Hospital is an accredited, 800-bed, teaching hospital of Auckland University and it is the main acute medicine centre for the region of over 550,000 people.
Our Department of Cardiology runs an 18 bed CCU/SDU and a Cardiology Ward.
We offer a large volume outpatient service, an on-site echocardiographic imaging service, a cardiac interventional suite with two Cardiac Catheter labs, and on-site CT coronary angiography and Cardiac MRI services.
Cardiac surgical and invasive electrophysiology services, some of which are provided as part of a Northern regional service at Auckland City Hospital.
Our Cardiology Service provides high quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
There is an active research program in place spanning clinical trials and local research with the department at the forefront of ANZACS-QI, and internationally recognised cardiac registry and quality improvement programme.
There are currently 17 Cardiologists in the department including several national and international leaders.
A position is available immediately for a suitably experienced General Cardiologist who is competent at Echocardiograms.
Other imaging experience is also preferred.
The successful applicant would also have responsibilities for the acute general cardiology care in the coronary care unit and the out of hours Cardiology roster (approximately 1:5 weekends).
There will also be contribution to the provision of outpatient clinics.
We are seeking a colleague who strives to advance the Cardiology Department, and is an excellent regional collaborator.
Salary and conditions of service will be in accordance with the New Zealand ASMS Award Agreement.
Applicants must have suitable training and experience in Cardiology and be able to be registered with the New Zealand Medical Council.
