We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design / Project Engineer to lead the design and execution of mechanical systems for industrial plant projects. In this role, you will manage projects ranging from concept to completion, with a focus on pressure vessels, process piping systems, and energy plant infrastructure. You will collaborate with engineering teams, external clients, and fabrication teams to deliver high-quality solutions in steam, hot water, and heat recovery systems.Key Responsibilities:Design & Engineering: Develop designs for mechanical systems, including pressure vessels, piping systems, heat exchangers, and energy plant infrastructure (e.g., pipe bridges, supports, platforms).Process Engineering: Perform heat balance calculations, develop P&IDs, and design components for boiler feed systems, steam, and condensate systems.3D Modelling & Documentation: Create detailed 3D models and produce fabrication drawings using SolidWorks (or similar).Project Management: Manage engineering projects ($1m to $10m), ensuring timely delivery, within budget, and to client specifications.Commissioning Support: Assist with commissioning and testing of boiler systems, heat plants, and related infrastructure.Client Interaction: Build strong client relationships, provide technical expertise, and support during scoping and project execution.Skills & Experience:Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng or equivalent).Experience: 5-10 years in mechanical design or project engineering, preferably in process heat, energy systems, or industrial plant design.Technical Expertise:Experience with pressure vessels, pressure piping, and stress analysis.Familiarity with boiler systems, piping design, and heat recovery solutions.Knowledge of process flow engineering, heat balance, and P&IDs.Software Proficiency: Advanced experience with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modelling software.Project Management: Experience managing mid-sized projects ($1m-$10m) and leading design execution.Communication: Strong communication skills for interacting with clients, vendors, and internal teams.Why Join?Professional Development: Gain exposure to diverse projects with opportunities for growth.Collaborative Environment: Work with a skilled and supportive engineering team.Competitive Compensation: Attractive salary and benefits package.Work-Life Balance: Standard 40-hour workweek with no weekend or night shifts.You must be a New Zealand Citizen or Resident to apply for this role.
