Collectively as Fortifi, they can improve a single line or automate an entire food processing plant, anywhere in the world THE ROLE The core focus of this role is the continued design of world class products that meet business targets whilst creating a fun, high performing, motivated project team (3-5 people).
Technically you have the skill and expertise to know what design work can be completed in the time available, that it is robust, safe and easily manufactured.
From a leadership perspective you will support and offer guidance to Engineers and Graduate Engineers to enable them to perform successfully at all levels.
This is a key "hands on" senior technical design role, which places a strong emphasis on keeping products at the forefront of the global market.
You will be part of a wider team consisting of mechanical design, R&D, control systems, and engineering support staff.
Technically you will have a strong focus on the design of the products from the ground up, recognizing any potential design flaws before and during the build.
In addition to your own hands-on design responsibilities, you will on a project by project basis, supervise a small team of mechanical design personnel, estimate project staffing needs, and schedule and assign work.
You will prepare work plans, review and approve mechanical investigations and studies.
Your leadership will drive high quality work plans, successful implementation of mechanical components, team support and training, and project performance.

We need you to be a person of confidence and a willing motivated mentor/leader of your design team.
Ideally you will have a several of the following attributes: Proven ability to lead, develop and mentor fellow Design staff.
A practical and pragmatic approach to design, combined with a commercial understanding of what tasks need to be undertaken at the right time.
Strong 3D modelling (Inventor, Solid Works, Pro-E or similar) with exposure to FEA Strong mathematical skills.
Design of machinery and/or materials handling equipment Exposure to the R&D, pointing to successful design of next generation products.
Demonstrated ability to design for manufacture Sound understanding of engineering principles Takes a practical and analytical approach to problem solving - asks the questions Qualifications Relevant professional qualification(s) in mechanical or mechatronics engineering or extensive practical experience.
