With a strong forward workload and recent contract secured, my client is looking for a talented Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team in East Tamaki, Auckland.About the Role:As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in taking concept drawings and equipment specifications and transforming them into bespoke production machinery. You will utilize your 7+ years of experience in 3D CAD design and proficiency with SolidWorks to create and refine designs for special-purpose machinery and tooling.Key Responsibilities:Analyze and interpret project proposals and specifications to generate machinery concepts for review.Undertake engineering design and calculations to ensure functionality and efficiency.Obtain initial pricing and manage the delivery of proprietary items.Prepare manufacture-ready drawings and bills of material to applicable standards.Support the build and testing of prototypes to meet defined performance specifications.Ensure that materials, components, production processes, quality control, and cost considerations align with design efficiency and effectiveness.Coordinate the design phase of major projects and provide leadership to the design team.Skills & Qualifications:Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related trade background.7+ years of experience in 3D CAD design of special purpose machinery and/or tooling.Proficiency in SolidWorks design software.Experience working in a commercial engineering environment.Confident producing full working drawings within a busy setting.Strong understanding of design calculations, material selection, and manufacturing processes.Ability to lead teams and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.In Return:Competitive salary of $120K - $140K + Benefits.Strong pipeline of projects with a 2-year growth plan.Passionate team with long-term leadership.This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to showcase your expertise and lead innovative design projects in a fast-paced, design and build manufacturing environment.
