Senior Manager - Technical Policy

We are seeking a Senior Manager – Technical Policy to lead on:Providing advice to the Board and staff on issues relating to biosecurity, animal welfare, animal health, agricultural compounds and medicines, and other technical policy issues affecting the sheep and beef sectorAdvocating for, and representing the interests of, sheep and beef farmers in technical policy development processesWorking alongside wider B+LNZ to support farmers to understand their obligations around regulatory policy issues that directly affect their farm businessesTo be successful in the role, you will need to:Influence policy makers and stakeholders on national and international technical policy and regulation through high quality analysis, supported by research, insights and understanding of the impact of policies on sheep and beef farmersWork collaboratively with other sector bodies, government departments and agencies in developing access improvement strategiesWhat we ask of you:A tertiary qualification with good grades in the biological sciences, agricultural science, food technology or environmental sciencesExperience in a senior policy role, with particular emphasis on biosecurity, animal welfare and/or animal health policyA good understanding of the role of the beef and lamb industry in the New Zealand economy and of the importance of export markets to the industryA commitment to furthering the success and prosperity of the New Zealand pastoral farmersHow to apply:Applications need to be submitted directly via the B+LNZ website, using this link: https://beeflambnz.com/about-blnz/work-for-usNote: Your application will not be accepted if you apply via SEEK.The role is based in our Wellington office.
