Join Kaipara District Council's supportive Finance team as a Senior Management Accountant! In this pivotal role, you'll lead the development of Council's financial systems and models, working closely with business leaders and activity managers to enhance understanding, deliver insightful analysis, and produce robust reporting that drives meaningful business outcomes.
About the opportunity This is a key role in providing financial insight and strategic and operational input ensuring that Council leadership and ratepayers receive quality, compliant and timely information on Council's assets, liabilities and financial performance. You will assist with budgeting, analysis and reporting and manage our Fixed Assets System and Capital Expenditure Reporting, as well as assist with the preparation of the Annual Plan and Long-Term Plan.
This role can be based in Dargaville or Mangawhai, however Kaipara District Council has embraced flexible work arrangements so the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work remotely some of the time. Travel between Council offices within the Kaipara region will be required.
About You Naturally you will be collaborative and customer-centric with a high level of communication skills and the ability to work with Managers at all levels to provide your technical expertise and support and influence business decisions. You pride yourself on being self-managing and innovative, with strong analytical and interpretive skills, a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, and excellent reconciliation skills.
In addition, you will need: Sound understanding of financial systems and working knowledge of NZIFRS and applicable accounting standardsAt least 5 years' accounting and reporting experience in a large or business environment, ideally in the public sectorWhat we offer Kaipara District Council offers a flexible, supportive, and inclusive team culture within a collaborative environment.
