Senior Library and Council Services Assistant CAYS (Children and Youth Services)Whangaparaoa Library is a busy community library serving a diverse community.
We are looking for a flexible all-rounder to join and contribute as part of a high achieving cohesive team.
You will be collaborating and supporting the team in the day to day running of the library.
You will be a role model in providing great customer service to people of all ages and backgrounds.
Daily you will be engaging with customers in the library, making it easy for them to access the various library resources and services that are available and ensuring that they have an unforgettable experience at the library.
In this role, in collaboration with the senior librarian children and youth, you will have the opportunity to work closely within our local communities through a range of programmes: from children and youth activities in our library to outreach to community groups, schools, and early childhood centres.
You will also be able to create and deliver fun and exciting learning programmes and initiatives, both in person and online.
This is a permanent part-time 38-hour position, which includes working a weekend day.
We are looking for someone who:
Is motivated, organised, and able to independently design and deliver creative and exciting children and youth programming, displays and resources.Is experienced, knowledgeable, and confident in the use of multiple social media platforms to engage with children and youth online in different innovative ways.Can work with local community groups to co-design to create new and exciting children and youth services.Has an interest in readers advisory especially children and youth as our customers are passionate readers and users of the library.Has a strong people-focused, and empathy-driven work ethic, along with a positive attitude, pride in their work, and in the ability to influence others positively.Has a flexible and collaborative approach to work, excellent communication, and attention to detail.Is resilient, adaptable, reliable and able to foster great relationships within the team and across the local board.Enjoys a busy day-to-day library service and the opportunity to connect directly with our patrons, demonstrating excellence in customer service.An ability to speak in one of our community languages will be desirable.A clean driver's license is essential.Along with the benefits that come with being a part of Auckland's largest employer, you will also be part of Australasia's largest public libraries and can make an impact in one of New Zealand's fastest growing cities.
