Our Senior Library & Council Service Assistant plays a vital part within our library team ensuring that our libraries within the Whau Local Board provide a world-class customer experience that is second to none.A fantastic opportunity has become available to join the Whau Local Board libraries as a Senior Libraries and Council Services Assistant - based at New Lynn Hub.The role will focus on the needs of our diverse communities to develop partnerships, programmes, and services and supporting digital literacy and equity. This is a role that will work closely with the programming team, working across both the library and the Community Centre.You will have a passion for making a difference in the library and within the Community Hub and have a strong, people-focused and empathy-driven work ethic.This is a permanent part-time 30-hour position that includes a weekend day. This is a senior role that needs you to step up as required. This role also requires flexibility to work across the Whau Local Board.Flexibility, adaptability, superb people skills, a willingness to learn, a passion for customer service, and a can-do attitude are essential.We are looking for someone who can demonstrate an ability to:Build and maintain relationships with local diverse groups, including our Maori, Pasifika, and new migrant communities.Develop strong partnerships with various stakeholders.Be the senior on site and have the capability, capacity, and confidence to lead when required.Support diverse community needs and engage under-served parts of the local communities.Work collaboratively with teams in the Whau Local Board, sharing skills, knowledge, and expertise.Provide exceptional customer service, including supporting customers to use a wide range of library and non-library resources, navigating literacy and social vulnerability issues.Keep up to date with current technology to support customers with access to resources in all formats.We offer a welcoming and supportive team, fantastic regulars, and a strong community.
