Our Senior Library & Council Service Assistants play a vital part within our library team ensuring that our libraries within the Howick Local Board provide a world-class customer experience that is second to none.
A fantastic opportunity has become available to join the Howick Local Board libraries as a Senior Libraries and Council Services Assistant – based at Botany Library.
You will have a passion for making a difference in the library and have a strong, people-focused and empathy-driven work ethic.
This is a permanent part-time 38-hour position.
Botany Library is a seven-day service, requiring flexibility to work across the seven days, including a weekend day and late-night shifts.
This senior role requires you to step up as needed.
Flexibility, adaptability, superb people skills, a willingness to learn, a passion for customer service, and a can-do attitude are essential.
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate an ability to:
Be the senior on site and have the capability, capacity, and confidence to lead when requiredExhibit leadership skills and the ability to problem solveDemonstrate resilience and the ability to navigate challenging situationsWork collaboratively with teams in the Local Board, sharing skills, knowledge, and expertisePossess strong partner and relationship skillsProvide exceptional customer service, including supporting customers to use a wide range of library and non-library resources, navigating literacy and social vulnerability issuesHave experience working with people from diverse backgroundsKeep up to date with current technology to support customers with access to resources in all formatsShow flexibility and collaboration across all aspects of your mahiExhibit attention to detail and excellent organisational skillsHave knowledge/understanding of Te Ao Maori and a willingness to learnWe offer a welcoming and supportive team, fantastic regulars, and a strong community.
