Senior Library Assistant - Content & DiscoveryWe have an exciting Senior Library Assistant – Content & Discovery opportunity.Get involved with preparing and processing library materials to delight and inform the people of Auckland.This role is located at Central Library, Monday – Friday.Nga Pataka Korero o Tamaki Makaurau (Auckland Libraries) have a strong community focus, and we are an extraordinary destination for the people of Auckland.
Our Senior Library Assistants – Content & Discovery play a vital part within our library team ensuring that our libraries provide a world-class customer experience that is second to none.
A fantastic opportunity has become available to join the team as a Senior Library Assistant – Content & Discovery based at Auckland Central Library.
This role sits within the Metadata and Supply team.
The team is involved with all aspects of preparing library material to be added to our collections.
This includes the creation of metadata to describe and classify materials, processing and labelling of material, invoicing, and the full life-cycle of Serials Management.
You will have a passion about making a difference in the library and have a strong, people-focused work ethic.
Attention to detail and an ability to look for innovations and new ways of working is important in this role.
This is a permanent full-time 40-hour position working Monday - Friday.
This is a senior role that needs you to step and take the lead with problem-solving and innovating.
Flexibility, adaptability, superb people skills, a willingness to learn, a passion for customer service and a can-do attitude are essential.
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate an ability to:
Problem solve.A great sense of resilience and ability to come up with new ways of working.Strong partnership and relationship skills.Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds.Keep up to date with current technology.Flexibility and collaboration across all aspects of your mahi.Attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.Support the creation of accurate descriptive metadata for all formats.Execute the range of activities required for accurate and timely receipt, processing, data entry and dispatch of new items.Support the accurate and timely processing of invoices to ensure uninterrupted payment to suppliers.Assist with the management and delivery of serials.Deliver efficient and timely processing, recording and supply of our physical and online collections.Knowledge/understanding of Te Ao Maori and a willingness to learn.We offer a welcoming and supportive team.
