About the Role This newly created senior litigation role requires someone special. This role will involve complex and demanding litigation matters, ranging from high-profile matters to smaller yet equally important issues.
ASB Bank invites a Senior Legal Counsel to join the Business Services legal team in this newly created role. Reporting to the Head of Litigation and Disputes, you will partner with stakeholders to provide high-quality legal advice to business units across ASB on complex and interesting matters.
Your day will traverse regulatory issues, civil proceedings, technology, and compliance, and you will enjoy the opportunity to be involved in some ground-breaking cases on a wide variety of issues. You will provide effective legal advice to a range of stakeholders, including the ELT and Board, with a particular focus on general commercial litigation and regulator engagement.

What We're Looking For At least 10 years of good quality experience in complex litigation matters.You must hold or be eligible to hold a New Zealand legal practising certificate.Financial services experience is desirable but not crucial.In-house experience preferred.Ability to work autonomously with support and to provide guidance to more junior staff as appropriate.Sound understanding of conduct and reputation requirements.About the Company ASB's purpose of accelerating the financial progress of all New Zealanders is the why behind everything they do.
