Senior Legal Counsel at Health and Disability Commissioner, Wellington - Wairarapa Permanent, full time5 years + PQEExperience in undertaking and managing litigationWellington basedKo wai tatou | Who we are The purpose of the Health and Disability Commissioner (HDC) is to promote and protect health and disability services consumers' rights and to facilitate the fair and efficient resolution of complaints relating to infringement of those rights.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced litigator to join the Director of Proceedings' Team in Wellington. This is a full time, permanent position.
The Director of Proceedings is the Commissioner's independent prosecutor. The Director is required to make independent decisions on cases referred by the Commissioner and to take proceedings before the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal, the Human Rights Review Tribunal, and the courts. The Director is responsible for the efficient, effective, and economical management of proceedings activities.
The role of the Senior Legal Counsel is to assist the Director of Proceedings in the prosecution of disciplinary proceedings and other litigation, as agreed with the Director, including all aspects of file management, case preparation and appearance before the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal, the Human Rights Review Tribunal and the courts.
