This role will be responsible for providing legal support and advice across our business nationally and consistent with our Group Policies, and with the aim of achieving the Global Express Group strategy.Additional key responsibilities:Working with the Legal Consultant (contracting) in relation to the provision of a broad range of legal advice to senior management and business unit leaders to ensure that business unit activities are conducted in accordance with applicable laws, risks are identified and appropriately managed, and our rights are protected.Providing pro-active, sound and commercially-focused legal support and advice to senior management and business unit leadersProtecting our legal and financial interests and meeting our commercial objectives when negotiating, advising on, drafting and reviewing agreementsSupporting the Chief Legal Officer (Australia) and team in the delivery of the Legal strategic planEnsuring corporate governance rules and processes are maintained and enforcedEnhancing and develop processes and procedures for the efficient provision of legal services in the role's areas of accountabilityWe are looking for a seasoned legal counsel with experience in stakeholder management with senior management and effective leadership and oversight of the delivery of legal advice from external providers.Additionally, you will have:Degree in Law and admitted as a solicitor;Current legal practising certificate in NZ (or the ability to obtain one)At least 8 years' PQE working in a relevant legal capacity.Experience Identifying and implementing strategic and efficiency projectsAbility to prioritise work in accordance with business importance; meet deadlines in short time frames and under pressure;Strong commercial contract experience, excellent negotiation and drafting skillsExcellent communication skills including both strong written and verbal communications skills with ability to communicate to people in a range of positionsAbility to work as part of a team, as well as autonomously; andHigh level of professionalism and discretion.Our people and customers are at the heart of everything we do.State of the art facilities, with a diverse team, in a fast paced and dynamic industryAccess to medical cover, discounted national holiday homes and retailer discounts.Career and development opportunities are endless, nationally from Kaitaia to Invercargill and across the Tasman with our TGE family in Australia.Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging, Sustainability, and the Environment are part of our DNA so come support us on our journey.Ensuring we do our part to preserve Aotearoa's environment, we are committed to our carbon reduction goals for 2030.
