Senior Legal Counsel - Dispute ResolutionExciting in-house opportunity with a broad and varied litigation portfolioJoin Kainga Ora at a dynamic and vital time for the organisationPermanent, full-time opportunity at $183,249 + 5 weeks' annual leave and a suite of additional benefitsIn this rare opportunity to join Kainga Ora's Litigation team, as Senior Legal Counsel you will contribute to the efficient and effective management of our broad litigation portfolio.
The breadth of work that we do here at Kainga Ora means that our Litigation team enjoys a wide and varied portfolio at an interesting and challenging time for the organisation.To be successful in this role you will need to be comfortable delivering strategic legal advice and breaking down complexities for different audiences, be able to build and maintain credible relationships internally and externally, and have sufficient experience to operate autonomously.
You'll have ability and experience in providing expert guidance, including operational advice on litigation management and cost management to the wider team and key stakeholders.Litigation management with experience translating legal advice into what it will mean operationally for the business is key to your success in this role.
Your years of experience, ideally in both private and in-house Litigation teams, will give you a competitive edge!Here's what we'd love for you to bring to the role:Law Degree and current practising certificate required.10 years of Legal experience, ideally with 7 of those years in litigation and dispute resolution.In-house experience, ideally in the government sector.Ability to provide solutions-focused operational and strategic legal advice on a wide range of dispute and litigation matters.An understanding of the Crown Entity framework.Experience writing a wide variety of documents including board papers, briefings and legal advice.Ability to work alongside and develop relationships of trust and confidence with the Board, leadership teams and staff.Strong intellect with well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.You'll need a sound ability to thrive within challenging environments, embracing change, and very high standards of personal ethics and integrity.As a Kainga Ora - Homes and Communities employee, we want to make sure that you have all the tools and support you need.
