Are you ready to make an impact in our Central City community?
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Lead - Social Inclusion to join our dedicated Central City Hub team. This new role in the Central City Hub contributes to Auckland Council's commitment to creating safer places for people to participate in, meet, connect and enjoy community and civic life. We're looking for strong candidates that will be able to hit the ground running with experience in services to vulnerable members of our community that reflect knowledge of social inclusion, wellbeing and community safety.
This is a permanent full-time position with the occasional requirement to work outside of normal business hours based on service needs. This role is based primarily at the Central City Library with the ability to work across the Central City Hub area.
Among others, your day-to-day duties will be to:
Respond to the needs and priorities of the Waitemata local board and community by creating powerful programme and outreach opportunities.
Connect directly with whanau who have complex needs and work effectively with local government agencies and external organizations to enable and action a collective approach in your mahi.
Design and deliver relevant and responsive services, programmes and initiatives in an environment of positive, local support that is inclusive, acknowledging a wide range of cultures and identities with special attention to those in the community who might 'need us most'.
Empower and enable our diverse community by building networks and creating opportunities & strengthening partnerships.
Identifying and investing in smart and innovative approaches and working alongside programme partners.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is inspired and excited about working with our diverse Central City community. You will have previous experience in leading and successfully delivering community-based initiatives along with in-depth knowledge of intentional and innovative approaches that build a sense of place and belonging. You will be passionate about enhancing the wellbeing of customers and community, building partnerships with internal/external stakeholders as well as implementing and overseeing place-based initiatives. Strong communication and relationship building skills are a must as well as an ability to foster inclusive community outreach and engagement initiatives that ensure our Central City Hub spaces are safer, trusted, inclusive, well maintained and welcoming for all.
You'll also understand the importance of relationships with Maori in Tamaki Makaurau and are committed to the recognition of te ao Maori in this role. Ideally you can pronounce and use te reo Maori in emails, meetings and conversations and be led by and enable tikanga practice that recognises and enhances the mana of staff and community, and enhances Maori identity and wellbeing.
You will have a relevant postgraduate qualification in Behavioural Science, Counselling, Psychology, Family Therapy or Community Social Service. Also combined with a minimum of 3+ years' experience of clinical practice in a relevant field including social work, or 5+ years of experience working with diverse communities and people with complex needs.

We would be looking to appoint the successful candidate at a salary of around $73-$87k per annum, dependant on experience.
