About the role
Right now, we are on the hunt for an experienced Senior Laboratory Technician to join our small but busy Christchurch microbiology laboratory team. You will be based onsite at our Hornby factory providing day-to-day supervision of the laboratory whilst ensuring accuracy and timely results are achieved.
The role encompasses leading a team to undertake general laboratory testing procedures, maintaining quality systems and adhering to various standards. The key to your success will be in your ability to lead and guide the team to ensure all requirements of our internal and external stakeholders are met.
Responsibilities include:
Day-to-day supervision of the laboratory including organisation of workload, prioritisation of testing, providing guidance, and meeting reporting requirements.
Manage the upkeep of the laboratory's quality systems, ensuring that any changes are clearly communicated to the team.
Offer technical support, oversee training and development, and lead investigations.
Ensuring compliance to ISO 17025 and other regulatory standards.
Promote a safe working environment and adhere to all health and safety requirements.
Requirements:
Tertiary Qualification in Science, ideally microbiology or food science related field.
At least five years previous experience working in a microbiological laboratory environment.
Supervisory experience.
Strong understanding of quality systems and ISO 17025.
Meticulous attention to detail, including clear and accurate record keeping.
