Danone Balclutha in the scenic Otago region is looking for a Senior Laboratory Technician ! Join a close-knit Laboratory team of 4 within the picturesque Otago region, working at our spray-drying plant in Balclutha. Accountable for LIMS systems maintenance, method development and Laboratory documentation/SOP management.
This is a permanent full-time position working Monday – Friday between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm (37.5 hours per week) with a salary between $68,000 and $70,000.
You will:
Perform calibration of NIR, FTIR, Ion Chromatography (IC) and Karl Fischer (KF) titration and other lab equipment.
Ensure all laboratory equipment is always calibrated.
Other duties as required to fulfil the primary objective of promoting quality and food safety within Nutricia Manufacturing.
Be responsible for implementation and maintenance of GLP, ICP – equipment and ICP-method for in-line lab.
Train both lab technicians and production staff in SOPs, use of equipment and other technical software.
Ensure continuous improvement by leading and participating in problem solving groups as required.
ABOUT YOU
You will have a tertiary qualification (Bachelors or higher) in Chemistry/Microbiology/Science/Food Technology or equivalent. You enjoy working in a Laboratory environment and are looking for a step-up opportunity to develop.
To be successful in this role, you will also have:
At least two years of relevant experience as a laboratory technician in the dairy/food industry.
Demonstrated knowledge in an ISO 17025 accredited Laboratory is essential, with experience as a KTP considered a valuable asset.
Experience in reporting of chemical/micro results.
Excellent operational focus with time management and prioritisation skills.
Ability to be a strong team player, work collaboratively with others within the team and across the business.
Strong planning, organisational and communication skills.
Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a track record of delivering results under time constraints are crucial for success in this role.
