Port of Tauranga provides customers with highly effective supply chains through investment in regional feeder ports, inland freight hubs, cargo handling expertise, and logistics services.
The Port's facilities in Tauranga include the country's largest and fastest-growing container terminal, extensive bulk cargo wharves and storage facilities, and bunker berths. Reporting to our IT Infrastructure Manager, you will be integral to ensure systems operate effectively, efficiently, and securely.
About the role: We are seeking another motivated and experienced Senior IT Systems Engineer to join our highly functional and close-knit IT Infrastructure team.
The Senior Engineer is expected to demonstrate a depth of understanding across the core functions of Corporate and Operational infrastructure, providing support to other team members in their development as well-rounded IT professionals. The successful candidate will be confident to lead the resolution of IT issues and take ownership to explore fit-for-purpose solutions for our business.
This is a full-time position performed during weekdays Monday – Friday (40 hours). There is also an element of flexibility to meet the needs of our 24/7 operation; the successful candidate will be required to participate in a weekly on-call roster alongside the rest of the team (compensation payable).
The role is varied and an exciting customer-facing role which requires an individual who is diligent, approachable, and motivated. You will be performing functions such as supporting improving real-world user experience, leading and collaborating with the business on projects, hardware maintenance, and upgrades.
We're looking for a candidate who can demonstrate sound working knowledge of:
Windows Desktop / Server OS, applications, and hardwareVMWare, Citrix, and Multi-factor Authentication TechnologiesCyber Security best practiceNetworking fundamentals incl. Wireless, Firewalls, Switches, and RoutersCloud technologies (Office 365, Exchange Online, Azure)Backup and RecoveryThis opportunity will enable an engaged individual to build on their broad scope of IT expertise in a practical and dynamic environment.
To be successful in your application, you will be:
Proven to have held or are currently working as a Senior IT Systems EngineerAn excellent communicator;Exceptionally organised with the ability to uphold tight deadlines and work under pressure;An innovative trouble-shooter with great attention to detail;Focused on delivering excellent customer service by dealing with others in a professional and considerate manner;Confident to work in heavy industrial areas including up cranes (~45m high) and around water;Expected to deliver on work commitments both unsupervised and as a part of a team;Committed to contributing to a safe and efficient operating environment.The position requires a proven history of at least 10 years' practical IT experience in a corporate or industrial environment.
Shortlisted candidates may be required to perform a profiling and/or competency assessment.
