Our Values guide how we do our job, and keep us passionate about creating great places and supporting our people - Te wero - The Challenge We are seeking an Infrastructure Planner to join the Infrastructure Consenting Team. The team assists with ensuring the compliance of, renewing and applying for consents for water, wastewater and stormwater services within Far North Waters. The purpose of this role to provide technical and professional infrastructure planning services within the Far North Waters Alliance, supporting to achieve planning outcomes that enhance social, environmental, economic, and cultural wellbeing. Key responsibilities for this role include (but not limited to): To prepare, lodge and submit consent applications for water, wastewater and stormwater assets, including water takes and discharge applications, programming and forecasting the consent costs. To be the responsible lead role in notified consent application processes, hearings and in Court proceedings, eg: provision of evidence statements and negotiations at Court mediation. Undertake and lead engagement on infrastructure consenting issues for Council by initiating, developing, and maintaining relationships with Maori, community, and stakeholders. This position reports to the Infrastructure Consenting Team Leader. We're looking for someone who brings: A minimum of 7 years' experience in a planning, civil or environmental engineering role including at least 2 years' experience in one of the specified infrastructure planning disciplines Suitable tertiary level qualification with significant experience in a planning, engineering, or environmental science related field Preferably a member, or eligibility for membership of an appropriate and relevant institution or organisation You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Maori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Maori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations Highly developed documentation, reporting and writing skills, and business case processes An advanced level of experience working with the Resource Management Act and/or the Local Government Act along with an understanding of the upcoming legislative changes under the local government, three waters and resource management reforms Practical understanding of project management, policy development processes, collaboration, and consenting The ability to confidently deal with sensitive and confidential issues A desire to get the best outcomes for our community A progressive mindset focused on continual improvement The ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
