Korero mo te turanga - About the role This role is within the Development Capability and Insights (DCI) Division, part of our Pacific and Development Group (PDG). The Practice, Quality and Capability (PQC) Unit has a broad stewardship responsibility for the International Development Cooperation Programme which delivers a broad range of development projects globally. As the Senior Health, Safety & Risk Adviser within the PDG, you will: Partner with colleagues across PDG at all levels to provide expert advice on all health, safety, and risk matters. Develop and implement effective strategies that result in improved health and safety practice in the delivery of New Zealand's international development cooperation ensuring excellent competency and ongoing development of our H&S culture. Utilise your excellent communication skillset, by providing advice, support, and coaching at all levels. Influence to ensure best practice and continuous improvement is embedded through a safety culture, providing a business as usual mentality. Engage, educate, and motivate, utilising your experience and understanding, encouraging commitment from all stakeholders – both internal and external. The full salary range for this role is $124,674 to $168,676 total remuneration, inclusive of our 3% KiwiSaver employer contribution. We expect to appoint around the midpoint $146,575– give or take depending on your level of experience. Ma wai te mahi nei? – Who are we looking for? We'd like to hear from you if you are an experienced Health & safety professional with a solid background in risk management practice with the following skills and experience: Relevant tertiary qualification or post graduate qualification in health and safety. Minimum 10 years health and safety experience. HASANZ Accreditation or ProfNZISM or GradOHS. Excellent critical risk management experience. Motivated, influential, and enthusiastic personality. Outcome focused and detail orientated. Experience in engaging and presenting to Senior Leaders. Great ability to train and facilitate group sessions. Proven skillset in building relationships at all levels. Ideally you will also have a good understanding of tikanga (Maori customs and protocols), with the ability to weave te ao Maori (the Maori worldview) into your work.
