Our Values guide how we do our job, and keep us passionate about creating great places and supporting our people -Te wero - The ChallengeWe have an awesome opportunity within our Growth Planning and Placemaking team for someone who has the skills outlined below and who will bring their experience and positive attitude to excel in this role.You will have an active role in developing and maintaining our growth demand and supply data (for example, Far North housing and business development capacity assessment) and you'll be responsible for defining and presenting on the growth needs of our district over the short-, medium- and long-term. On behalf of the Growth Planning & Placemaking Team you will be responsible for developing and maintaining a strong relationship with our infrastructure service partners, including supporting Far North District Council to meet its obligations under future Relationship Agreements with Wai Tamaki ki te Hiku. Owing to your engineering background, you will be responsible for leading projects that seek to identity (in collaboration internally and externally with our mana whenua partners, stakeholders and service providers) high-level infrastructure servicing options for new or growth urban areas in our district.This is a newly established team where you will work with future focussed, pro-active colleagues.Our ideal candidate will hold an engineering tertiary qualification and be passionate about analysing complex data and presenting it simply to support your recommendations to meet long term growth and place-based community outcomes. We are looking for someone with experience in applying population projections or other scenarios to understand the level of growth or change a community will need to accommodate over short-, medium-, and long- term planning horizons. Your civil engineering background in either transport planning/modelling, or 3 Waters planning/modelling will enable you to lead projects that result in a short list of infrastructure servicing options for communities that are experiencing growth. Knowledge of, or a desire to learn, Tikanga Maori is a must.
