Every day, they are influencing, advising, and supporting Ministers, Crown CEOs and Government decision-makers to shape our country's collective tomorrow.Our Fiscal Reporting team is currently looking for a Senior Government Reporting Accountant and a Government Reporting Accountant to join the team full time on a permanent basis.As a Government Reporting Accountant at the Treasury, you'll be part of a dynamic, highly skilled team that is responsible for providing financial accounting direction to the public sector.As a Senior Government Reporting Accountant, you will be leading key products and pieces of advice.We are committed to keeping New Zealand's reputation as being a world leader in government fiscal reporting.In these roles, you will be closely involved in preparing the financial statements and forecasts of the Government as well as providing accounting advice on a range of issues.You will also have the opportunity to:Be part of the production of the Government's monthly financial statements and fiscal forecastsLearn and apply public sector financial management frameworksProvide support and advice to Government reporting entities and teams within the Treasury on accounting, appropriation and consolidation issuesCommunicate financial results effectively to a range of stakeholders (e.g.
Ministers)Contribute towards the effectiveness of the team via collaborationManage key internal and external stakeholder relationshipsThis important work takes a special kind of person with a passion for making a difference and getting things done.

The specific experience, skills, and qualities that will help you succeed in this role include:A Chartered Accountant qualification with at least two years for Government Reporting Accountant (post qualification) of financial accounting or auditing experienceA Chartered Accountant qualification with at least five years for Senior Government Reporting Accountant (post qualification) of financial accounting or auditing experienceExcellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to represent the TreasuryA focus on continuous improvement and personal accountabilitySelf-starter with initiative who can think independently and drive outcomesExceptional relationship management skills and credibility to engage with and influence at all levelsExperience in consolidation accounting; Public sector experience would be helpful but is not essentialKo nga hua | What we OfferThis is an important job and that's why we'll do all we can to support your success.
