With leading edge technology the mill is the largest stand-alone operation in NZ, producing structural timber for both the domestic and export markets.An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Finger Joint Operator to join the dayshift team in our Remanufacturing plant. We are looking for a candidate who is an expert on set-up and changeover as well as fine tuning our Western Pneumatics and Grecon finger joint machines. This is a full-time position, with hours of work being Monday to Thursday from 5.00am to 3.40pm, and evenings/Friday overtime as required.As the Senior Finger Jointer, you will be responsible for optimising the performance of the 2 finger joint lines including being involved in planning the maintenance and improvements of the lines. You will ensure the quality of the finger jointed product is achieved (including finger joint profile, assembly, glue application, and finished FJ blank). You will be required to lead a team of 5-6 people across both the day and night shifts including provision of training to the team and FJ apprentices which will require some shifts to be worked on the night shift.A preferred candidate will have:10+ years work experience in a remanufacturing plantExperience with set-up and running high-speed (100 lug/min) Western Pneumatics lug jointer or Grecon TURBO S batch jointer and sound knowledge of machine safetyExperience with knife/cutter head grindingGood eye for detail and quality systemsMay have held a mentoring/leadership positionThe successful applicant must be a reliable, physically fit team player with a "safety first" attitude.The wage range payable of $32-$38 per hour reflects the experience level required for this role with overtime rates for hours worked over 40 hours per week.Pre-employment drug testing and medical screening applies.
